Fodrea Instrumental Music Endowment Fund Recognizing that all children benefit when they learn to make music, in 1996 Millie Reeves provided funds for strings instruction classes at Fodrea and Lincoln Elementary schools. Many of the participants continue to play their violins and for several the violin has become a doorway out of the cycle of poverty their families are in. Their teachers acknowledge the important role music plays in keeping those children interested in school. www.thecip.org

The Hope Food Bank began in 1982 with the generous support of local ministers to help provide for those in need in the Hope area. Since that time, the Hope Food Bank has become a service of the Community Center of Hope, Inc. which has allowed it to grow significantly in its outreach to the surrounding areas including the Flat Rock and Haw Creek townships and receive federal funding from FEMA. They serve on average 75-80 families that meet family size requirements and income guidelines. They are open from 9a.m. to 12p.m. every Tuesday and are staffed strictly by volunteers that simply have a heart for giving. They encounter unique situations almost daily that require them to come in outside of scheduled hours to provide for families in the community caught in emergency situations.
