Gifts from the Heart
Feel the tug of your heartstrings and help those who help others! Heritage Fund established the Gifts from the Heart program in 2005 to help agencies and organizations with funds at the community foundation. These funds have been established by agencies or individual donors to support Bartholomew County not-for-profit organizations. They provide annual support for the good work of these agencies and organizations in our community. A gift from your heart in any size will help ensure their good work forever!

Sans Souci (which means "Without Worry") recycles used clothing, furniture, etc. through our thrift store, which helps fund our mission of "helping area families be more self sufficient". We do that through selling basic necessities such as clothing, linens, cookware, etc. at the lowest possible price; providing necessities free of charge to those that cannot afford even our prices; and through employment of at-risk youth and adults with special employment needs. We give over $50,000 of "free assistance" (in the form clothing, furniture, beds, etc.) to Bartholomew County residents each year, and 88% of customers surveyed said that "shopping at Sans Souci left them more money for other essentials, such as food or medicine."
Senior Center Services The mission of Senior Center Services is to maximize opportunities for citizens over age 50 to lead independent, healthy and meaningful lives. In doing so, the agency provides basic services such as hot lunches, housing, employment assistance, and transportation; a variety of social, recreational, wellness, and educational programs; volunteer and community service opportunities; and support services for disabled seniors and their families. Both local and national surveys validate the value of such programs and services in keeping seniors healthier and more satisfied with life than senior who are not involved. www.seniorcenterservices.com
Senior Center Services has both a restricted endowment fund and an unrestricted fund with Heritage Fund. In addition, contributions to the Mill Race Center project are being placed in a Parks Foundation fund within the Heritage Fund. www.seniorcenterservices.com
