The mission of the Women’s Giving Circle of Bartholomew County(WGCBC) is to engage women of all generations and means in philanthropy.
The circle seeks to empower women givers and make a positive change in the lives of women and families in Bartholomew County. With this in mind, all interested women are encouraged to join in this important work.
The WGCBC is a participating membership fund established and managed by Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County. All assets will be held and maintained by the foundation. Each year the membership of the WGCBC will vote to make grant recommendations to the Heritage Fund Board of Directors.
What is a giving circle?
A giving circle is a group of donors with similar interests who pool their charitable dollars and decide together which charities to support. Giving circles allow donors to leverage their assets to achieve greater impact – STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!
What do we hope to accomplish?
To empower women givers and make a positive change in the lives of women and families in BartholomewCounty.
How do I join the circle?
Make a $100 contribution each calendar year before December 31 for use the following year.
How will my contribution be used?
Each year $75 of your contribution will be made available for immediate grant making and $25 will go into the Women’s Giving Circle of Bartholomew County Endowment Fund for future use.
Can I give more?
Absolutely, but all additional gifts above the $100 membership would be directed to the WGCBC Endowment Fund. This is also a wonderful opportunity for others to donate in honor, memory or celebration of a special woman in their lives. You can even give the gift of a membership.
How do we decide who receives the funds each year?
At the beginning of each year grant applications will be made available to organizations that work with women and families in our county. A grants committee will evaluate these applications and present those that fit our criteria to the total membership for vote in the Spring of each year. Each member will get one vote. You decide how the money is used!
Can I do more that just pay my membership?
Definitely! A group of women make up the Guiding Circle, the governing body of the circle. A new Guiding Circle will be elected in the Spring for the following year. You can also serve on one of the committees.
Who administers the funds for the Giving Circle?
The WGCBC Funds are administered by Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County. Please feel free to contact Lisa Shafran, Vice President of Development at Heritage Fund if you have questions at (812) 376-7772 or email@example.com.
