Marvin Johnson Scholarship – Established in memory of Marvin Johnson, founder of Marvin Johnson & Associates, a truck insurance company headquartered in Columbus.

Criteria: Any student who plans to attend an accredited four-year college or university within Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois or Kentucky and who is a child or spouse of a trucking company employee or of an independent contractor affiliated with a trucking company.

Jones Sisters Scholarship – Established by the four Jones sisters, Margaret Jones Baker, Beth Jones Newman, Amy Jones Weinheimer and Laura Jones Thayer, to provide grants for broad educational purposes in Bartholomew County.

Criteria: Graduating seniors from Bartholomew County high schools who are in the top 1/3 of their graduating class. Applicants must have a combined SAT score of at least 1000 and family income of less than $75,000.

The Martha Kalb "You GO Girl" Scholarship - Established by friends and family to celebrate the life of Martha Kalb, a dedicated Northside Middle School teacher, Columbus North High School Girl’s Basketball Coach and avid sports fan.

Criteria: Graduating seniors from Columbus North or Columbus East high school who play varsity girl’s basketball and plan to pursue post-secondary education at a vocational/technical school, junior college, college or university. Student must be in good standing academically. Criteria to be used in evaluating applicant shall include, but not limited to, academic performance, extracurricular activities, financial need, and sportsmanship. Recipients may reapply annually as long as they remain in good standing at the school of their choice.

LHP Scholarship - Established by LHP Software, LLC to promote education in computer science and engineering.

Criteria: Residents of Bartholomew County who are pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science, mdechanical engineering or elecrical engineering. Must have a 3.0 GPA out of a 4.0 or a 8.0 GPA on a 12.0 scale. Academic achievement, job history and financail need will be considered.

Application Required: Not available in 2010

Lacey Family Scholarship - The Lacey Family Fund was established in 2000 by Phil woods, in honor of Moni Lacey's long time service at Woods & Grooms. In 2008, the Lacey Family created this scholarship fund to recognize students' achievements and assist in their education

Criteria: Residents of Bartholomew County who are graduating seniors planning to pursue a bachelor's, associate's or vocational/technical degree as a full time student. Applicants should be good students who fall outside the top 10% of their class rankings. Applicant must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or an 8.0 GPA on a 12.0 scale. Preference will be given to students with a record of school, athletic, and community involvement. Previous recipients may reapply.

S. Edgar & Delora L. Lauther Memorial Scholarship – Established by the estate of Delora L. Lauther. Mr. & Mrs. Lauther lived in Columbus for many years. Mr. Lauther was a former president of Irwin Union Bank & Trust Co.

Criteria: Residents of Bartholomew County who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in business, as well as residents of Bartholomew County who are employed in the fields of banking and finance who wish to pursue continuing education courses in their field (whether those courses lead to a degree or not.) Undergraduate students must be juniors or seniors in college. Undergraduate and graduate students must show proof of their major. Preference will be given to finance and banking majors.

The Reverend Dr. William R. Laws Memorial Scholarship - In 1962, Dr. Benjamin King, a microbiologist at Bartholomew County Hospital, raised the issue of the numerous bassiers faced by Afro-Americans in the community with Dr. William R. Laws, Jr., then Pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Laws brought together a group of concerned citizens to address funding a foundation to provide scholarships for minorities to be used for post-secondary education. In 1976, the criteria broadened to include all Bartholomew County financially disadvantaged residents. In 2008, the William R. Laws Foundation Board asked Heritage Fund to take over management and administration of the fund. The Heritage Fund Board agreed to the request and effective August 2008 the community foundation assumed responsibility for the scholarship program.

Criteria: A graduating senior form a Bartholomew County public high school who plans to attend an accredited post-secondary institution full-time in pursuit of a technical certificate, associate's degree or bachelor's degree. Financial need, community volunteerism, student employment and first generation college applicant considered. Financial requirement to be considered for this scholarship is $50,000 or less family adjusted gross income. Minorities, disadvantaged and at risk students are encouraged to apply.

Corilla B. Lentz Scholarship – Established through a bequest from the estate of William Carr Lentz.

Criteria: Bartholomew County residents pursuing a post-secondary degree. Preference will be given to students in the Flat Rock – Hawcreek School District and/or to those students majoring in Agriculture or Consumer Family Science.

Doug Leonard Healthcare Occupations Scholarship –  Established in recognition of Mr. Leonard's service to the Columbus Regional Hospital and to the area's healthcare system.

Criteria: Bartholomew County resident planning to attend or currently attending IUPUC or Ivy Tech Community College – Columbus in a healthcare related course of study leading to an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree.

Application Required: Heritage Fund Combined Scholarship Application

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship – Established by Lilly Endowment, Inc. to raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana and to increase awareness of the potential of Indiana's community foundations to improve the quality of life of the state's residents. Provides full-tuition, required fees and an $800 book stipend for eight semesters of study.

Criteria: Graduating high school seniors who are residents of Bartholomew County and who have graduated from an accredited Indiana high school by June 2008. Must be pursuing a full-time baccalaureate course of study beginning in the fall of 2008 at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. Must have at least a 9.0 GPA on a 12.0 scale or a 3.33 on a 4.0 scale at the end of the 7th semester of high school. Academic performance, community/school involvement and financial need will be considered.
