Bob Marshall - Bob Gordon Memorial Scholarship for Journalism – Established in memory of two former editors of the Columbus Evening Republican (now The Republic) and dedicated to encouraging local students to pursue careers in print journalism.

Criteria: Graduating high school seniors and college students who reside in the multi-country area served by The Republic newspaper and who plan to pursue a career in journalism. Financial need, academic performance, and extracurricular activities (in school and in the community) will be considered.

Mayor's Government Scholarship – Established in 1997 by the honorable Fred Armstrong, Mayor of Columbus, with a gift of appreciation to the city from NTN Driveshaft. Mayor Armstrong currently serves on the Heritage Fund Board of Directors.

Criteria: Residents of Bartholomew County who are recent graduates (within the past nine months) of Columbus East and Columbus North high schools or McDowell Adult Education Center to study a government related program in a post-secondary, accredited Indiana educational institution. Applicants must have at least a 7.0 GPA on a 12.0 scale.

Application Required: Not available in 2010

Julie M McKinney Memorial Scholarship – Established in 2000 in memory of Julie M. McKinney by her parents, Roger and Angela McKinney, to celebrate Julie's love of life and love of the performing arts.

Criteria: A graduating senior from Columbus East High School who plans to attend an accredited post-secondary college or university as a full-time student and major in elementary education. Preference will be given to students who participated in any aspect of drama or choir while attending Columbus East.

John McLachlan Soccer Scholarship — Established by members of the soccer community to honor John McLachlan and the many years of work that he has given to the soccer program in Columbus.

Criteria: Bartholomew County high school student who participated on his/her varsity soccer team as a senior (as a player or a manger). Student must have lettered at least twice during his/her high school soccer career. Student must plan to attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution in pursuit of a technical certificate, associate's degree or bachelor's degree and must have at least a 5.0 GPA on a 12.0 scale or a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Dana Barton Merter Memorial Tennis Scholarship – Established in memory of Dana Barton Merter, an avid tennis player and a supporter of junior tennis. The scholarship is to be used for tennis instruction through lessons, clinics or camps, etc. within one year of the date of the award. Two scholarships, one to a girl and one to a boy, will be available.

Criteria: Junior tennis players age 10 –18 years old who reside in Bartholomew County. The scholarships will be awarded on the qualities of ability, ambition, mental attitude, sportsmanship and financial need.

Philip R. Miller Scholarship for the Visual Arts - Established in 2009 by family and friends to honor the memory of Philip R. Miller, to promote interest and enthusiasm in the visual arts. Mr. Miller was the first art educator at Columbus East High School when the school opened in 1972, and continued in that position until his retirement in 2009.

Criteria: Graduating senior from Columbus East High School who is a current student in the art department and has completed at the end of their senior year at least three semesters of art. Students must have received an A- average in their chosen visual art discipline for the last two semesters, prior to applying. Applicants must have their portfolio evaluated by the Columbus East Art Department prior to submitting their application and the required recommendation form must be completed by a Columbus East Art teacher. Applicant must plan on attending an accredited post-secondary educational institution to study arts education or the visual arts.

Anthony Moravec Scholarship – Established by Tony Moravec, CEO of Applied Laboratories and Blairex Laboratories, to help further education.

Criteria: Residents of Bartholomew County. Applicants must have at least a C average (5.0 GPA on a 12.0 scale or a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale). Financial need will be considered. Students may apply/reapply annually.

One Step at a Time Scholarship — One Step at a Time Scholarship – established to assist students from the Indiana Business College and students who have received the GED Certificate to take the next step in their educational pursuits.

Criteria: Students who are enrolled in the Medical Programs at the Columbus Campus of the Indiana Business College, students who have received an Associate's Degree from the Columbus Campus of the Indiana Business College and are pursuing a further degree in the health care field at an accredited post-secondary institution, or students from the counties of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings and Johnson counties who have received their GED Diploma and plan to pursue a technical, associate's or bachelor's degree at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Application Required: One Step at a Time Scholarship Application

Bob and Marcy Oswald Engineering Scholarship – Established by Bob and Marcy Oswald, former residents of Columbus, to promote engineering education. Mr. Oswald is the Retired Chairman of Robert Bosch Corporation in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Criteria: Bartholomew County graduating seniors who intend to major in an engineering curriculum at an accredited institution of higher learning.

Andrew Parker Memorial Scholarship – Established by family and friends in memory of Andrew Parker who died in an automobile accident in May 2004.

Criteria: Graduating seniors from Columbus East, Columbus North or Hauser high school who plan to attend an accredited vocational/technical school, junior college, college or university. Applicants must display a passion for hard work and teamwork. Financial Required to be considered for this scholarship are $50,000 adjusted gross income with one college student in family or $70 000 adjusted gross income with two college students in family.

Dr. & Mrs. Edward L. Probst Medical School Scholarship Established by Dr. and Mrs. Probst to assist students attending medical school. Dr. Probst, M.D., grew up in Dearborn County and practiced dermatology for over 30 years in Columbus. The Probsts are lifelong members of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

Criteria: Residents of Bartholomew, Dearborn, Jackson, or Jennings counties attending an American Medical Association approved medical school. Applicants must be a member of a Christian church with preference given to Lutherans.
