About Us

People and families who live and/or work in Bartholomew County, benefit from a special heritage. Thanks to a distinguished history of visionary citizens, this community has been proactive in foreseeing needs and addressing them. Uncommon cooperation between public officials, citizens and private leadership has made this possible, and made it successful. No place is this more evident than in the establishment of the Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, Inc.

Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County is created primarily to:

  • Provide responsible stewardship of gifts donated for broad charitable purposes;
  • Develop leadership to address community issues;
  • Serve as a catalyst for positive change in partnership with others;
  • Promote philanthropy broadly within the community.

It is the general policy of the Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County to include people without regard to age, disability, economic circumstances, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation in carrying out our mission.

Heritage Fund, as the community foundation of Bartholomew County, seeks to foster community leadership in all its forms. Learn more about our Leadership Values.

It is the intent of the Heritage Fund Board of Directors to use the Foundation’s resources to enhance the quality of life in our community. Through collaboration with community partners, Heritage Fund conducted a Community Impact Scan to help answer these important questions:

What are the emerging needs in the community?

How can Heritage Fund proactively help address these needs?

Utilizing input from community experts in healthcare, economic development, social services, government, and the arts, Heritage Fund created a list of Areas of Impact that will drive proactive grant making in the years to come.

We invite you to join us in our journey to proactively use our resources to support the most important opportunities in our community. Our door is always open for your comments and questions, and we are more than happy to help you direct your philanthropic giving to align with our efforts or to support your personal philanthropic interests.

In partnership with others, Heritage Fund will provide resources to move our community forward in the following AREAS OF IMPACT:
